Your Dish Network Satellite ReceiverWhen you signup for Dish Network service, the Dish Network Satellite receiver that comes with your system depends solely on the type of service that you order. The technician that installs your service should be able to determine which Dish Network Satellite receiver that your service package requires. While there are many different models of receivers, there are only three types that are available: HDTV Receivers, DVR Receivers, and Standard Receivers. If you have not ordered an HDTV or DVR satellite package your receiver will be standard. Standard receivers are available for Dish 322, Dish 311, Dish 301, and Dish 111. Each of these dishes and receivers has different features. All dish and receivers systems include parental control locks, Dish Home Interactive TV, themes lists, favorites lists, program browse, one-touch channel return, closed caption support, and alternate audio support. The Dish 322 comes with two tuners (remote controls). The Dish 311 system has one tuner and features the electronic program guide with up to two days of program listings and information. With Dish 311, you can pay your Dish Network bill, access news and weather, and play games directly through your television set. Software upgrades for the Dish 311 are available via satellite. The Dish Network Satellite Receiver 301 includes caller ID, and the tuners can be programmed to operate your television, VCR, and DVD players. Dish 111 allows you to personalize your experience with weather, sports, and games, and it also includes Caller ID. If you have ordered HDTV your system will include Dish 811. This receiver will allow you to enjoy High Definition Television, while also enjoying all of the features of a standard Dish Network Satellite Receiver. However, if you have ordered both HDTV and DVR service, you will receive Dish Player DVR 942. This is the first receiver in the industry that has both DVR and HD technology combined, and it includes multi-room functions, which will allow you to connect two or more televisions. It has a 250 gigabyte hard drive, and has the ability to record up to 180 hours SD recording, and up to 25 hours HD recording. For the DVR service, there are four receivers available, including the Dish Player DVR 942 that is used for both HDTV and DVR service. Dish Player DVR 625/522 is a dual tuner which will allow you to record two shows at the same time, while viewing a completely different program. It also includes PIP (picture-in-picture) capabilities, 120 gigabyte hard drive, up to 100 hours of recording. Dish Network Satellite Receiver 721 also includes a dual tuner with PIP technology. Like the 625/522, it also has a 120 gigabyte hard drive, but only records up to 90 hours of video. The smallest Dish Network Satellite Receiver available for DVR service is Dish 501/508. This receiver does not have dual tuner capabilities, and the hard drive is between 40 and 80 gigabytes. The Dish 501/508 can handle up to 60 hours of recording. Again, your technician should know which type of receiver you need for your service, but when you order the service, you should be given the option of choosing which Dish Network Satellite Receiver you want.
